In the top left, there’s a back option, which will bring you back to the home page, and on the right, there are a few buttons. When you first open up your gallery, it will look like this (unless you already have artwork in it of course). I usually leave my settings at their default options, so I don’t really change anything on that part. The gear brings up a pop up for the settings. The question mark brings you to a page that has a lot of tutorials for Ibis Paint X. In the top right corner of the home page there is a small button with a question mark, and a small button with a gear. I do not upload my artwork to the gallery, however that is an option is you’re interested. The online ranking shows the most popular artworks people have uploaded. Speaking of online gallery, that’s what the third button leads to! The online ranking connects to the online gallery. The second brush with a star is “Collection”, it brings you to a screen similar to your gallery, but the collection is for artwork that was downloaded from the Ibis Paint X online gallery. The first button with a paintbrush symbol is “My Gallery”, tapping it will bring you to your gallery. It is mostly blue, with the Ibis Paint X logo, smaller text below the logo saying what version of the app you have, as well as 3 buttons and some artwork in a list known as “Daily Ranking”. When you open up the app you will see the homepage. Just be aware that this article will not feature everything about the app, just everything I know! Opening Ibis Paint X So today I’m going to tell you all about using Ibis Paint X. If I missed something and/or you are confused about something go ahead and comment and I'll try and reply.Hello everyone! My prior blog post called “How to Create Speedpaints in Ibis Paint X” has become quite popular, and many have asked for more tips on using Ibis Paint X. I hope if you were having trouble this helped a bit. The best one out of all of them in my opinion is the flat brush (real). Brushes either are really glitchy or mediocre at best. Although if you're just looking to start this will work fine. If you're looking to pursue painting as a career I would not recommend using this app as during projects with lots of strokes, the canvas begins to crash and you're exited to the home screen. Using IbisPaint for painting is actually quite difficult (ironically). Now choose any light color (I'd recommend red blue or lavendar) and start shading. Right above the opacity slider there's a little box that should say "normal" click the box and tap "multiply" in the "darken" section. First add a clipped layer above the coloring layers (See tutorial in "lineart" section). Shading is actually quite easy in ibispaint once you get the hang of it (surprisingly). Once that is done you can add clipped layers above it for the coloring so you can stay in the lines. Add a layer under the lineart and color in. The best way to color your piece is by filling in the lines with a color that will not be used in your piece. (NOTE: layers cannot be clipped to a layer that is also clipped, it will clip to the closest layer below it that is not clipped.) You can have multiple layers clipped to the same one if you'd like. Now if you add colors on the layer they will only be where the lines are. In order to clip a layer to the one below it click the "clipping" button right above the layer opacity slider. If you would like to make colored lineart, once you are done with the lineart then add another layer and clip it to the lineart layer. The first two are near the top but the point watercolor brush requires quite a bit of scrolling to find. In order to change your brush click on the circle in between the brush icon and the color selector. In my opinion, the best brushes to do lineart with areĭip pen (hard), Felt tip pen (hard), and watercolor (point). When doing lineart, if you would like straight and sleek lines be sure to turn up the stabilizer (I usually turn it up to 10) you can find the stabilizer settings up at the pointer finger. You can do this by tapping the layer button, at the bottom you can select the opacity for the layer with a slider. You can use any brush you want! Just be sure that you don't get the sketch layer confused with the finalized layers. I would like to make the process of learning it easy for everyone :) In this post I will be talking about Ibispaint X (the free version).Īlthough the program is generally pretty easy compared to other programs, it can be quite confusing at the start. Ibispaint is an app available on iPhone and Android.
